End Users Comparing Apps Cross Platform
Developing more for Android recently, I am seeing a trend I have never seen before. End users are comparing features and prices of applications across platforms. For example, I have experienced comments that particular Android applications aren’t as functional or are more expensive than a similar app on the iPhone app store. This shows two things. The first is that some people are moving across from iPhone to Android. The second is that they are bringing their (app) expectations with them.
For some people, key apps are important. More important than the device and the platform. If they can get an app for what they want on Platform A but not on Platform B then this is the most important factor. This goes both ways. Although apps on Android tend to be less mature and less feature complete than on iPhone, there are many things that simply can’t be done on iPhone.
