Following on from my post yesterday, the BBC, who must have full access to the report, have published the Canalys per-platform figures.
My calculations were slightly out due to rounding to 2 decimal places in the publicly published figures. However, there’s a large discrepancy in the Android shipments. In my haste, sorry, I multiplied by 8.859 not 9.859. This makes the Android shipments even more at 10,689,290. Or, putting it another way, Android sold 27% more phones than iPhone.
So what about my Symbian figures in red yesterday? Taking the 27.13 million shipments for Symbian and subtracting the 23.8 million for Nokia mentioned yesterday, we now know that Samsung and Sony Ericsson combined only sold 3.33 million Symbian phones.
