Parrot Asteroid

parrot.gifSo many innovative Android devices get announced but either never get released or only get sold in specific countries. Today, I was surprised to receive a catalogue mentioning a device I had seen last January and only now is it reaching consumer awareness here in the UK. It’s called the Parrot Asteroid and is in-car unit that allows you to, for example, play music, make calls via a tethered phone or run apps.

It’s an interesting yet specialised prospect for developers and has its own SDK and developer ecosystem.  Again, it’s an example of a vertical area outside the normal congested Android app discovery and purchase process. If you could somehow interest car makers or others in the auto industry then it might provide some viable opportunities.
