Research2Guidance have a new report and press release telling us that the European app market reached 1.68 billion Euro in 2012. This includes paid downloads, in-app purchasing and in-app advertising.
Yet, the European market mainly made up sales in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain und France, is only 20% of the global market. There was a time, less than a decade ago, when everyone was wondering if and when the app market would be viable. Today it’s viable to target just a proportion of the global app market. This brings new opportunities for more vertical apps aimed at, for example, geographical, age-related, particular devices or particular subject matter areas. As the mobile app market gets even larger, smaller niche apps will become more viable – provided people can find them.
