Yesterday I wrote about reported iOS and Android and market shares. If you are thinking of developing an app you should also consider the types and activity of users on these predominant platforms. This is especially so if you must decide on which platform to support first rather than developing for both at the same time. If developing for both, market demographics might also determine how much effort you put into each platform.
I recently came across a very useful article by Comscore on ‘Android vs. iOS: User Differences Every Developer Should Know’.
- iPhone users are slightly younger and more affluent
- Android users have broader content category reach
- iPhone users more likely to engage in m-commerce
- iPhone satisfaction corresponds with high device loyalty
