I have been following Carbide.c++ since it was in alpha. The free Express version was OK but lacked good support for importing existing Symbian projects.
In response to feedback from users, this area was improved considerably with the latest (paid-for) Developer/Professional edition.
What’s more significant is that the latest import changes have now been included in the free Express edition. This is great news as it means the free edition won’t necessarily be the poor cousin in the Carbide.c++ family. Most developers start off with the entry level product and previously many must have been put-off when they couldn’t import simple example projects. If you are one of these people you should give the latest version 1.1 a try. Carbide.c++ is available from Nokia Forum.
