Nokia’s Submit a Proposal

nokia.gifI came across a useful page on Nokia’s site today. When you have a potentially useful idea, it can often seem difficult to know who to approach in a large company such as Nokia.

Nokia’s Submit a Proposal page provides a way to initiate communication with Nokia. Nokia is interested in "hearing from you if you would like to do business with Nokia and/or license your technology".

I would add one caveat though - you will need lots of patience. Dealing with hardware OEMs (and network operators) is notorious for taking a long time to conclude negotiations. One of the problems is that you don’t always know you are talking to the most appropriate person.

For example, with Nokia, there can often be more than one person (or department) that might like to hear about your application or service. I have experienced that people working with S60 don’t necessarily communicate with the S40 teams and vice versa. Also, I have also seen a case where one team really liked and sponsored a 3rd party idea only to find it was later blocked by another team. It’s not necessarily a problem with Nokia - just a characteristic of a large company. If at first you don’t succeed, I recommend you try via a different avenue within the same company! For Nokia, you can also try the Forum Nokia Forum Launchpad or search out Nokia staff to contact directly.
