Android Store Complaint

androidmarket.gifI have received a complaint from someone called Michelle today regarding comments on applications I have on the Android Store…

"I understand that you can not control what people say about your application, but you or t mobile really need to police the comments that are posted because there are comments that are very offensive like the one about Terry being a stupid n!&&(% you can guess what the n word is…… I would really appreciate that."

This follows on from my previous post on the Android Market. One thing I still don’t get is why there are so many poor quality comments on the Android Market. You would think the people currently using the G1 would be early adopters interested in technology and not kids (or immature adults). After all, the G1 and associated tariff isn’t an inexpensive device.

As I have said previously, Google needs to fix the comments system before network operators loose faith. Also, if this continues, I think it’s only a matter of time before developers start removing their applications. There’s only so much aggrevation we can take in return for providing a free application.

16 Dec UPDATE: The BBC has an interesting comparison of Smartphones and says the following of the Android market…

"Think Firefox (the browser) extensions gone bad. Most applications have whacky names, poorly worded descriptions and strange customer reviews that will leave G1 owners doubtful whether they should really click the download button"
