Google Conspiracy Theories
I have previously voiced my concerns regarding possible future Android device fragmentation. Related to this, there’s a thought provoking post "What’s this… Android on Shaky Gound" on mobilestance.com that considers how this fragmentation might benefit Google.
The gist of the conspiracy theory is that Google has created Android in such a way as to to encourage fragmentation. This means that if Android is successful and ultimately ends up running on a significant number of phones then only thin i.e. (web browsers) clients will be viable. It’s also argued that fragmentation thwarts malware writers.
I personally don’t think Google is this calculated or strategic. However, the consequencies of these conspiracy theories might come true. As I said last week, "Just creating cool things can create unforeseen opportunities".
