MID as a Phone
It’s interesting that there are currently several rumours of hardware manufacturers considering using Android for NetBooks or MIDs. At first sight, I can’t see Android applications with their typical one or two controls per screen ‘row’, working that well on a wide screen.
However, according to a very recent ABI Research Survey, nearly half of respondents actually view MIDs as cell phone replacements. If things end up going this way, mobile applications may have to adapt to working on wider screens. It’s also interesting that so many people think that is worth carrying around a much more bulky device in order to get a better sized screen and keyboard.
