Got a new mobile idea? Wonder if there will be demand now that there are worldwide economic problems? Need to know what kinds of services people are looking to use in Europe and the US?

A new survey of 50,000 European and U.S. mobile users shows that, despite worldwide economic problems…

"Consumers intend to dramatically increase use of mobile data services over the next two years ― with a significant ramp-up in the next 12 months."

The top five services that non-users intend to start using are…

However…

"Consumers also highlighted the greatest issues operators need to address: cost (too expensive or unclear), speed, quality and reliability."

Will there be new applications and services for these people to use? From my point of view there are less inventors and one-man companies coming to me. Instead, leads tend to be marketing companies, consultancies and other organisation doing work for handset OEMs and network operators. I get the impression that the economic problems have affected the lone inventor. Meanwhile, I feel the large existing players are trying to evolve and become part of the new application renaissance.

So yes, there will be more applications and services. However, if my leads are anything to go by, these services are more likely to be supplied by the network operator.
