Integration and Interoperation
Pete Dailey wireless analyst at Stratecast (a division of Frost & Sullivan) has written an interesting article on the factors that might have the greatest influence in determining the relative success of mobile platforms.
He says…
"I am persuaded that, ultimately, the key to success will be the ability of the operating system and its core applications and services to facilitate integration and interoperation with other applications and services."
I have picked up on this because it ties in with my own observations. I keep the T-Mobile G1 as a personal device despite the fact it’s not elegant hardware - but it meets all my integration and interoperation needs.
Pete goes on to conclude that Microsoft should place more emphasis on Windows Mobile’s interoperation strengths and "…exploit the installed base of Office users". He also concludes that Google is putting itself in such a good position that its mobile "addressable market will explode".
This presents some opportunities for third parties. What software do people need to improve integration and interoperation?
