Why No Microsoft Phone Coming
There’s was an interesting TechCrunch Interview yesterday with Steve Ballmer. There’s mention of Microsoft’s strategy and the "Need to be first and best" to integrate communications and technologies. There’s also an entertaining part where Ballmer can’t seem to bring himself to mention Google and instead refers to Google (Search) as "The Incumbant".
The more useful information for mobile developers is Microsoft’s Windows Mobile strategy. We are told there won’t be a Microsoft phone because they are attempting high volume (i.e. Mass market as opposed to niche multi-million products). This, they believe, depends on multiple (geographical and OEM) points of manufacture.
