T-Mobile Pulse
Earlier this month I mentioned I had ordered the T-Mobile Pulse (a Huawei device). 25 days later and I received it yesterday. Here are my first impressions…
Positive
- The wider screen (than G1) makes the on screen keyboard much more usable.
- Its size/shape is so similar to the iPhone that I can’t help but think this was the design brief.
- Its a quality device given its cost but obviously has no metallic case parts.
- Battery life is similar to the G1.
- It even comes with a slip case.
- The power lead is far too short.
- There’s no notification led like on the G1. I miss knowing I have a new email or SMS.
- Some fashion victims might dislike the T-Mobile as opposed to handset OEM branding.
- It didn’t sync Google contacts and calendar by default. Presumably because you might use other sync solutions/sources.
- It ships with OS version v1.5. Coincidentally, my G1 upgraded itself to 1.6 the day I received the Pulse. Maybe it knows and doesn’t want to be replaced?
- The microphone is at the bottom corner rather than the centre bottom. It’s easy to have your hand over it when making a call!
