Is all about Cost
It’s strange that themes seem to surface in unrelated things I hear about or in conversations with people. At the moment it all seems to be about ‘cost’.
A few weeks back I made the observation that it’s difficult to compete with free applications. I also wrote about free applications. Well, abovethecrowd.com has a great article on how Google is going beyond free to ‘Less than Free’. Apparently, if handset OEMs licence the non-free version of Android then they will "give you ad splits on search if you use that version".
Via Twitter I have heard that T-Mobile UK are now offering a month’s PAYG data for only £5. This matches the similar cost from Hutchison 3. I am told they are also introducing £20 for 6 months data. However, I can’t find it on their web site yet. Use this with PAYG T-Mobile Android Pulse phone and you have an inexpensive combination. Smartphone and mobile Internet are getting much more affordable.
