A new report from Telephia shows that UK 3G users are much more active than non-3G users. The report also shows that more than 30% of users used their operator’s portal exclusively while 49% used both portal and off-portal sites.
These figures are very encouraging. However, many UK network operators have free trial and promotional activities targetted at encouraging people to use new 3G services. I think it remains to be seen whether people will continue to use operator provided services once the promotional period expires.
The high rate of ‘Internet browsing’ is particularly interesting. It maybe shows that people are not finding what they want on operator portals. This is an an opportunity.
