Reaching Your Customer Base

computing.gifThe paper version of Computing, a UK publication, has an interesting article on deploying mobile business apps (I’ll add the link once it also becomes available online).

Nick Jones, VP of Gartner, is quoted as saying..

"Targeting your user base correctly may mean that a cheaply developed application that covers more of your customer base would be preferable to deploying an expensive richer application that targets a small percentage of that base"

This ties into my previous note on how…

"supporting one mobile platform might alienate customers who don’t have that platform"

There’s also a very recent post by Dennis Forbes that argues that many simpler apps can be implemented as web sites in order to reach a larger percentage of people.
